Like student like teacher? Taking a closer look at language teacher anxiety

Abstract This article takes a comparative look at language teacher anxiety (LTA) vis-à-vis students’ classroom (LCA) and contends the benefit of pursuing expanding LTA research. Specifically, paper first traces development inquiry from its inception in 1990s until today highlights how it historically aligned with and, more recently, diverges LCA After establishing as an idiosyncratic variable instructed learning teaching contexts, I grapple questions whether why merits further research attention suggest that pursuit is not only beneficial to examine role teachers’ emotions but also for advancement three other flourishing domains field second acquisition (SLA). These include diversification theoretical frameworks through which can be examined, methodologies, social justice-centered approaches (e.g., pedagogies discomfort).
